MINDSET SHIFT

  1. If we all agree that Africans abroad need to unite in order to be able to achieve meaningful and substantial goals then we have a lot of work to do. Presently, the theme and rhetoric on African issues debated by Africans (based on social media debates and commentary that has been observed) is cynical. There is a lot that needs fixing on the Continent but first there is a lot that needs to be rectified in the way we engage with each other.

  2. Instead of analysing issues to identify further problems, we need to focus on developing solutions. A solution-focused approach is important because when solutions synergise they become even better remedies; whereas problems synergise to move farther away from resolution. If we can get develop the specialist skill of looking at a bad situation and identifying the positives within it, even if this is 5% of the whole situation, we are in the solution mindset that we need for the transformation of Africa.

  3. Mindset shift is an active process does not happen overnight and demands commitment, practice, participation, as well as support. Africa Loading will support mindset shift by publishing and re-circulating short articles on common debatable topics to help shape thinking. It is important to have a library of stimulating reading material to shape thought and refresh ideology in order to create and maintain momentum. It’s easy to be cynical and if you find yourself being drawn into cynicism, resist it. This is where the change in mentality occurs. It can be very uncomfortable and your natural preference might be to elaborate upon a problem. However if you don’t resist the natural tendency to think negatively, you will nurture the type of mindset that can derail the whole process. Identifying problems is subconscious and it’s built into the human self-preservation wiring which is about hazard perception and risk avoidance. Empty yourself of all negativity but remember that nature abhors a vacuum so fill it immediately with positivity.

  4. Africa Loading will publish spotlight articles on independent projects being undertaken by others individuals on the Continent. Some of these projects may need funding and will benefit from contributions if you feel obliged. We encourage you to support where you can.

  5. Africa Loading is not asking for any financial contributions at this stage. We want to establish the number of Africans abroad who believe in what we are trying to achieve. If enough of you say yes to this, we will go ahead and create a powerhouse that will make Africa a global contender on the empire stage.

The story of Africa cannot merely be about great historical empires. Africa must continue succeeding as an enduring legacy for all African generations, past & present. …otherwise what is the point of our great history?
