WHY AFRICANS ABROAD?

  1. This is not to suggest that Africans abroad are better than Africans on the continent. Not at all. Africans on the continent and Africans abroad each have their role to play. The Africa Loading model focuses on each category in their area of strength.

  2. Africans abroad, particularly in the more developed countries, have curated a wealth of knowledge from working and living in more advanced and higher funded societies. They are adjusted to interacting with automated systems, to operating within environments of strict law enforcement, are familiar with advanced community infrastructure and are accustomed to very robust standards. Working and studying in these societies has enhanced their skill at designing, delivering and operating such systems. Skills that are necessary for the future-state Africa we all hope for. In addition to that, they have resources both financial and intellectual that are conditional for success.

  3. Africans on the continent are the applied force for change. They are the power of the development engine and will deliver the solutions on the ground. Without mobilisation, the effort is back at ground zero with good debates, brilliant ideas and lots of potential but nothing to show for it. This mobilisation is non-negotiably dependent on Africans on the continent.

  4. Anyone who keeps track of development activity in Africa at a grassroots level will know that there are already a large number of Africans that are mobilisers on the Continent driving change. They are making great strides (often at high personal costs) to improve lives, with little support from the collective of Africans home and abroad. They are often sponsored by international organisations which we are appreciative of. However these organisations sometimes have their own metrics and targets to achieve which can create limitations on how, where and what can be done. This network of mobilisers needs to be identified and connected with the Africa Loading initiative. Spotlight articles on these individuals will be published as reading material by Africa Loading to raise awareness about their presence and activities.

A continent is not defined by a land mass but by its people. A united approach is a strong approach. Never in the history of any society has unity been a weakness.
